Moments ago, the USCCB officially approved the revised New American Bible for liturgical use. Bishop Lopes mentioned that the goal is to have a uniform text that will be used at Mass and in the Liturgy of the Hours, as well as being available as a Bible for study and prayer. The text will now be sent to Rome for confirmation.
This is great news, and a hopeful sign that we’re in the final phase of the long, long wait for a new breviary.
As an aside, I’d be curious to know who the four bishops were who voted against the translation, and what their reasons were.
I was wondering that myself.
