I’m excited to announce that Timothy, our founding father from the Catholic Bibles Blog, will be joining us as a contributor to this blog! His work was a major influence in sparking and fanning the flames of my own interest in Bible study. I think his blog served an important need in providing resources to Catholics who are curious about the Bible or want to begin studying it in depth. In many ways, we are the community he founded, and I’m very happy that he will be joining us! Here is his introductory note to all of us:

I am truly grateful that Marc has been so kind in allowing me to participate in his blog. It has been almost a year now since I ended the Catholic Bibles Blog. Much has happened in my own life since then, but one thing that has not changed is my appreciation for printed editions of the written Word. Over the past year, I’ve been spending considerable time in a handful of editions, trying to really “get into them” both in terms of the translation itself and the physical book. It has been an enlightening process for me, one I hope to share in various ways here. In addition, I have been made aware of some new Catholic Bible editions that should be coming out in the coming year or two which I am excited to share and review for you. (More on that in the coming months.) My focus will primarily be on reviewing newer and vintage editions, while also providing commentary on the general state of Catholic Bible reading and Catholic Bible editions.

Finally, one might ask why I don’t just restart the Catholic Bibles Blog. There are two reasons for this:

  1. I really appreciate the work Marc has done on this blog. I don’t want to, in any way, detract from this blog and the community that has been formed here;
  2. I do not have the time to run a blog to the standards that I would like. This season of my life is focused on raising my three young children, trying to be a good husband, my work at the high school and parish, and some other writing ventures. So, with Marc’s blessing, the Catholic Bible Talk blog seems to be the best option.

In conclusion, I just want to thank Marc for the welcome. I am honored that he is willing to post my reviews and thoughts here. I also look forward to our interactions in the comments. Greetings!

  1. I am glad to read this. I enjoyed reading Tim’s bible blog and I felt his slant on the subject was about as fair minded as I have seen from any source.
